The Micro-Petralab is a complete thin sectioning center incorporated into one compact, precision-built unit. It will simultaneously perform all operation necessary to obtain the highest quality thin sections while saving valuable lab space. For initial slabbing and surfacing, the unique satellite chucks can securely hold four rock specimens of any shape up to approximately 130 cubic centimeters each. The vacuum chuck will hold up to four mounted specimens for trimming and grinding. Surface grinding is performed by two built-in precision grinding heads. For finishing operations, a variable speed diamond lapping plate is included that can be easily interchanged with optional polishing plates. Also included is a handy trim saw for incidental trimming and sizing of specimens.
